Menu Management

Create categories, add items, use modifiers, and keep your Belanzy menu organized.

Overview

Your menu is the heart of Belanzy. This is what your guests see when they scan a QR code and what your staff uses in the POS. A clear, well-structured menu leads to faster orders and fewer mistakes.

In this guide, you’ll learn how to create categories, add items, use modifiers, and keep everything organized.

Creating categories

Categories help you group items into logical sections like Drinks, Starters, or Desserts.

  1. Go to Menu → Categories.
  2. Click Add category.
  3. Give it a name and (optionally) a description.
  4. Save it – it will now be available for your items.

You can drag and drop categories (if enabled) to change the order in which guests see them.

Adding items

Items are the actual products you sell – dishes, drinks, extras, or even time-based products like “Table reservation fee”.

  1. Go to Menu → Items.
  2. Click Add item.
  3. Enter a name, price, and assign it to a category.
  4. Optionally add a description and image.
  5. Save your item.

Items appear instantly on your QR menu and POS once they are active.

Modifiers & options

Modifiers let guests customize their order (for example: size, extra toppings, side dishes, or cooking preference).

  • Create modifier groups like “Size”, “Extras”, or “Side”.
  • Add options (Small, Medium, Large, Extra cheese, etc.).
  • Attach modifier groups to individual items.

Use required modifiers when guests must choose something (e.g. Steak doneness) and optional ones for upselling.

Allergens & labels

Clear allergen labelling is important for guest safety and trust. Belanzy lets you tag items with common allergens like gluten, dairy, nuts, and more.

In the item form, simply select the allergens that apply. These icons or labels will appear in the guest view.

You can also indicate vegetarian, vegan, or spicy dishes using custom tags if your configuration supports it.

Visibility & availability

Sometimes items are temporarily unavailable or only served at certain times. Belanzy gives you flexible control over visibility.

  • Toggle an item between active/inactive.
  • Hide items from QR but keep them for staff-only POS use.
  • Optionally use time-based availability (if enabled).

Use these options to avoid constant menu edits while keeping the customer experience smooth.
